The Soil O-live project has actively participated in the ‘European Mission Soil Week 2024’ that took place last week in Brussels. The project coordinator, Antonio Manzaneda (UJA), the project manager, Iván Sánchez (UJA) and Juan Carrasco, representing DEOLEO, partner of Soil O-live, participated in this event.
Soil O-live was present at the second edition of these conferences, which were held last year in Madrid, to present the first results of the research carried out in the framework of this project coordinated by the University of Jaén. On Wednesday 13 November, Soil O-live took part in the ‘Mission Soil Project Trail’ activity, in which several soil initiatives from all over Europe took part. Each stand presented its project in an interactive way to the groups of participants passing by. According to Iván Sánchez, ‘it was interesting because we met many people from other projects with whom we now intend to meet and interact, to create synergies, in short’.
On Thursday 14th, the three members of the project who travelled to Brussels were also present at the face-to-face sessions of the EU Soil Mission Clusters. The clusters are groups that deal with specific topics, which are transversal to all the projects financed by the Soil Mission and that have to do with communication, sampling strategies and soil health assessment, or with the treatment of the data obtained in the different projects, with the idea of unifying criteria and establishing collaborations. These were the first face-to-face meetings of these clusters, which normally meet online.
