The company Deoleo will hold a workshop on sustainability on 2 April in the town of Entrín Bajo (Badajoz), the aim of which is to promote sustainable olive oil production among farmers. These workshops are part of the European project Soil O-Live, financed by the European Union and coordinated by the University of Jaén. The Viñaoliva Group and the cooperative S.Coop San Isidro de Entrín are also collaborating with a workshop.
The event will take place from 12:30 to 14:00 in the town’s Casa de la Cultura.
The event will begin with a speech by Bartolomé Lara, a Deoleo technician, who will explain Deoleo’s Sustainability Protocol to the attendees. Then it will be the turn of the researcher and professor of Ecology at the University of Jaén, Antonio Manzaneda, coordinator of Soil O-Live, who will talk about the main aspects of the project and will report on the importance and care of plant cover in the traditional olive grove and the effects of the use of copper in the olive grove.
This European project is supported by a consortium of 17 partners and has funding of almost 7 million euros under the Soil Heath and Food Mission of the Horizon Europe R&D&I programme (the European Union’s framework programme for research and innovation for the period 2021-2027).
