The town of Entrín Bajo in Badajoz hosted yesterday a new edition of the Soil O-Live and Deóleo Sustainability Conference. Around 25 farmers and technicians from the area took part in the event, showing their interest in promoting sustainable olive oil production among farmers.
The day began with the intervention of Bartolomé Lara, a Deoleo technician, who explained the Deoleo Sustainability Protocol. Then, the researcher and professor of Ecology at the University of Jaén, Antonio Manzaneda, coordinator of Soil O-Live, spoke about the main aspects of the project and highlighted the importance and care of plant cover in the traditional olive grove and the effects of the use of copper in the olive grove.
This workshop, which took place within the framework of the European project Soil O-Live, financed by the European Union and coordinated by the University of Jaén, had the collaboration of the Viñaoliva Group and the cooperative S.Coop San Isidro de Entrín.
The next conference will be held on 29 April in Fuente del Maestre, also in the province of Badajoz.
